Ronnie Hoyle Culler, 76, found utopia at ‘Slow and Easy’

OAK ISLAND — Ronnie Hoyle Culler, 76, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018.

Mr. Culler was born Jan. 23, 1942, in Surry County, the son of the late Hoyle Dock Culler and Nellie Inman Culler. Mr. Culler was a millwright, having worked for Rexam Beverage Can Company for nearly 30 years. He retired to Oak Island from Winston-Salem 15 years ago, moving into his loved beach house, “Slow and Easy.” Ronnie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed country music, westerns and metal working as a tinsmith.

Mr. Culler was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Culler.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Kathleen Culler of Oak Island; two sons, Ronnie Culler Jr., and his wife, Denise, of Winston-Salem, and Steven Culler, and his wife, Sharon, of Sanford, Florida; two daughters, Susan Pierce, and her husband, Brian, of Clemmons, and Jennifer Headen, and her husband, Rodney, of Graham; brother, Roger Culler of Carolina Beach; sister, Nancy Fulton of La Verkin, Utah; eight grandchildren, Sean Culler, and his wife, Katelyn, Bryan Culler, and his wife, Lauren, Courtney Culler, Raven Headen, Aaron Culler, and his wife, Angel, Kristen York, and her husband, Greg, Jessica Pierce and Allison Pierce; and five great-grandchildren, Isiah Vo, Grayson Culler, Karlee York, Milana Culler and Amaliya Culler; he is also survived by his cat, Scooter.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with inurnment following in the church columbarium.
