WILMINGTON — Dawn Cannon Britt, 73, died Thursday, May 24, 2018.
She was born June 14, 1944, in Kannapolis to Richard William Cannon and Lydia Bell Cannon. She resided in Wilmington for most of her life.
Dawn is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ennis H. Britt; daughter, Kristin Cannon Pflughoeft; son-in-law, David R. Pflughoeft; and two grandchildren, Logan David Pflughoeft and Eden Dawn Cannon Pflughoeft.
Dawn was preceded in death by her father, Richard William Cannon; mother, Lydia Bell Cannon; and daughter, Angela Dawn Batts.
Dawn was a loving wife and homemaker. She spent many years volunteering at the PTL Center serving those who were hungry and in need. She was an active member of the Republican party and could be found serving many of their causes. She was a member of a Red Hats Society as well as a den mother for the Brownie Scouts. Dawn was a longtime member of Pine Valley Baptist, and in her later years, the Rock of Wilmington.
Dawn was a friend to anyone she came across and often brought those who were in need to her home to break bread with them. She was a light in this world that seemed to shine a little brighter than most. All who knew her were impacted by her love for Christ, her grace and kindness, her infectious joyful spirit and encouraging words. Dawn was a woman of strength and determination like no other. We can be comforted by knowing that when she left her earthly home, she was present with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is not goodbye, but see you later, instead.
Please join her family in celebrating her life Wednesday, May 30, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. Interment will immediately follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
