OCEAN ISLE BEACH — Phyllis Elaine Farina, 80, passed away Wednesday May 9, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her close friends.

She was born April 11, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late Henry Cohen and Minnie Pechinik Cohen and was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Farina.

Phyllis was an active member of the Golden Girls Mahjong Group and the Social Committee at the Village at Calabash.

Surviving are three stepchildren, Steven Farina of Shallotte, and Phyllis Haring and Valerie Davie, both of New York; cousin, Sandy Dubin of Daytona Beach, Florida; dear friend, Nancy A. Grant of Sunset Beach, North Carolina; special niece, Linda Swan; and two beloved cats, “Queenie and Brooklyn.”

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 18, at White Funeral and Cremation Shallotte Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Liberty Home Health Hospice, 1120 Ocean Highway West, Supply, NC 28462.
