BOLIVIA — Maria Teresa Dameron, 74, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Maria was born Oct. 15, 1943, in Washington, D.C.

Her career began and ended as an educator of English at Laurel High School in Laurel, Maryland. Her love of sports included the Washington Redskins, the Maryland Terps, JAFT Hockey and coaching high school girls’ softball.

An avid reader, she also enjoyed playing Mah Jongg and catering to her beloved feline, Peanut.

Maria was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jimmy Dameron; and parents, Harry and Dorothear Miller.

She is survived by Bobby Dameron, and his wife, Crystal; Ron Dameron, and his wife, Marianne, Roger Dameron, Cathy Dameron Allen, and her husband, Richard; brother, Raymond Miller; and eight grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 14, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Southport. The family will receive friends after services at Maria’s home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
