
WILMINGTON — Pinkey Lee Blanton Kelly, 85, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 24, 2018. She peacefully passed at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 27, 1932, in Wilmington to the late Curtis Blanton and Effie Murray Blanton, she is survived by her husband, the Rev. Lubbie Winfield Kelly Jr.; four sons, Everett Sr. and Lois Kelly, Glen and Crystal Kelly, David and Jean Kelly, and Mike and Susan Kelly; grandchildren, Marsha Kelly, and her fiancé, Robert Hollowell, Tammy Dorsey, and her husband, Bryan, Everett Kelly Jr., and his wife, Ashley, Joshua Kelly, and his wife, Angela, Derek Kelly, Caleb Kelly, BrittniAnna Kelly, Jon-Luc Kelly, Ethan Kelly and Emma Kelly; and great-grandchildren, Kelsea, Chloe, and Hailey Godek, Tia and Kaia Dorsey and Savannah and Emilia Kelly.
She was preceded in death by 11 of 12 siblings, Cora Wells, John Blanton, Lela Sharpe, Ethel Erickson, Clarence Blanton, James Blanton, Allen Blanton, Hazel Dillman, Marvin Blanton, Pernell Sims and Calvin Blanton. She is survived by her beloved sister, Jewel Podaras.
Pinkey has always loved the Lord from a young age, dedicating her life to His work. She spent much of her life serving as a missionary with her husband in Mexico, Hawaii and the Philippines. She was a tremendous support of the missionary work to help establish two Bible colleges in the Philippines serving as an LPN, librarian and dietician. Upon retiring, she continued her love of children by providing childcare in her home.
The family will receive visitors at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 29, at Spring View Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church, 801 N. College Road, Wilmington. A funeral service will be follow visitation at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery, 105 Military Cutoff Road.
The family would like to express their love and appreciation for the beautiful care provided by CAPS, Assisted Care, Liberty Hospice and Spring View Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church.
