WILMINGTON — Billy Marion Hardee, 69, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Billy was born Aug. 13, 1948, the son of the late Henry Marion and Mary Frances Lang Hardee. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve and also retired from the civil service.
He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Wilma Hardee of the home; sons, Christopher Scott Hardee and Mary Mathews of Sneads Ferry and James Edward Lane, and his wife, Deanna, of Rocky Point; five grandchildren, Jamie, Robbie and Robert Lane and Avery and Jackson Hardee; special cousin, Jackie Leonard; feline friends, Elvis, Tux and Pickles; and many, many close friends.
The family will see friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, April 20, at Wilmington Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, April 21, at the funeral home with military honors. The Rev. Trudy Wilder and Chaplain Dudley Neal will officiate the service. He will be buried in a private ceremony in Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, N.C.
