
CASTLE HAYNE — David Elmer Watkins, 68, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at his residence with his family by his side.
Born May 27, 1949, in Wilmington, he was a son of James Edward Watkins and Myrtle Garner Watkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Amanda Futrell.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Watkins; son, Marc Watkins; siblings, William “Shorty” Watkins (Pam), Ed Watkins (Sylvia), Steve Watkins (Rosemary), Marie Watkins, Douglas Watkins (Susie) and Arlene Futrell (George); special brother-in-law, Joseph “Joey” Gore; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He loved his dogs, NASCAR and enjoyed fishing and Gospel music. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 4, at Andrews Mortuary & Crematory, Market Street. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, March 5, at Wrightsboro United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
