Frankie Allen Goggio, 78, retired from Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department

WILMINGTON — Frankie Allen Goggio, 78, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Born June 27, 1939, in Cumberland County, he was the son of John Goggio and Mary Bell Jackson Goggio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Goggio.

He is survived by his wife, Angelia Bell Goggio; two sons, Jeffrey Goggio (Pat) of Hope Mills, N.C., and Steven Goggio (Marianne) of Denver, N.C.; two grandchildren, Ryan Goggio and Taylor Goggio of Denver, N.C.; brother, Billy Goggio of Hope Mills, N.C.; and two sisters, Ann Bullock of Apex, N.C., and Faye Davis (Dennis) of Iowa.

Frankie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department in 1994 after 30 years’ service. Frankie enjoyed life and had many hobbies — fishing, shooting, hunting and flying to mention a few. He was self-motivated and taught himself how to build airplanes. One of his proudest achievements was becoming a pilot in 1990. He was a member of Buccaneer Gun Club.

Frankie enjoyed being a part of Backwater Gun Shop. He loved to hang out there and lend his expertise in all things about guns and shooting. It was there he became like family with the Andrews family and staff.

A graveside burial will be held at noon, Wednesday, Jan. 24, in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
