Beatrice Wilcox Proetsch, 92, loved music and singing in the choir

CAROLINA BEACH — Beatrice Wilcox Proetsch, 92, passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at her residence. She was born July 7, 1925, in New Bern, N.C., daughter of the late James and Janie Wilcox.

Surviving are her son, Jeff Proetsch, and his wife, Linda, and their children, Matthew and Victoria; daughter, Donna Proetsch Foland of California, and her children, Analie and Danne; nieces, Eleanor Ruth Privette, Linda Sloop, Jerri Delahoy and Janet Craig; and nephew, Jimmy Wilcox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Victor G. Proetsch; sister, Eleanor Gray Tyson; and brothers, Pat and Bob Wilcox.

Mrs. Proetsch graduated from Greensboro Women’s College (UNC-Greensboro) with a degree in Spanish and was a substitute teacher at Carolina Beach Elementary School for many years.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Carolina Beach, where she directed the children’s choir and sang in the adult choir. Later, she joined the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Carolina Beach, where she also enjoyed singing with the choir.

She loved music, played the piano, and especially enjoyed meeting her friends at McDonald’s at Carolina Beach.

A service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, at Andrews Valley Chapel with entombment following in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to services at the mortuary.
