HAMPSTEAD — Emmett Morris Sniff, 84, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, after a courageous battle with dementia.
Emmett was born Oct. 15, 1933, in North Little Rock, Ark., son of the late Burl J. and Helen M. Sniff.
Emmett was a devoted father and grandfather. Leaving behind to cherish his memories are two sons, Walter (Tammy) and Burl Sniff, and a daughter, Jeanette Strickland, all of Hampstead; grandchildren, Eric Sniff, Mary Ann Sniff, Calvin Sniff, Kristin Sniff, Joshua Hendricks, Michael Strickland Jr. and Veda Strickland; and four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Emmett was a veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict. He worked all his life as a plasterer. He owned Sniff Plastering Company, which was established in 1926 by his father, Burl. Emmett was known as “Plaster Master” and “The Concrete Man.” Several TV stations and newspapers have done documentaries on him for his amazing talent of sculpting statuaries made of cement. He was also a giver. He received great satisfaction knowing that he helped someone.
He was a member of Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church, where he took an active role in the construction of the new church and fellowship hall.
A celebration of Emmett’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15, at Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church, 88 Blakes Chapel Road, Hampstead. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Edward Dowd will officiate services.
The family would like to thank the Hospice staff for all the care, love, and support they gave not only to Emmett, but to his family during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice or Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church.
