
WILMINGTON — Edgar Clayton “Eddie” Baker Jr., 67, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 24, 1950, in Durham, N.C., to the late Edgar C. Baker Sr. and Elsie Mae Scearce Baker.
Eddie was a longtime resident of Wilmington and the owner of Professional Carpet Maintenance. He was fun-loving and loved life. Eddie enjoyed metal detecting, shagging and deejaying. He was a Hall of Fame member of The Cape Fear Shag Club and a member of The Association of Beach and Shag Club D.J.’s. To Eddie, nobody was a stranger. He had a strong Christian faith.
Eddie was a devoted and beloved father and grandfather. He was the “Pater Familias.” To Eddie, family was everything, and to his family, he was everything.
Survivors include his daughters, Sandi “Sam” Baker and Sherri Baker; grandchildren, Taryn, Jacob, Isabel, Jamie and Gillian; great-grandchildren, Lilly and Ryker; sister, Patricia Daniel (Wayne); and girlfriend, Rose Davis.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Masonboro Baptist Church, 1501 Beasley Road, Wilmington. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1 p.m. at the church.
