LELAND — Evelyn “Nannie” Strausser Hayes, 85, passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCare Center.
She was born Dec. 15, 1931, in Paxinos, Pa., the daughter of the late William John and Catherine Teats Strausser. She was preceded in death by her husband, David S. Hayes Sr.; and daughter, Mildred “Tudie” Ross.
Nannie was a member of The First Baptist Church of Leland. She was at her happiest when she was baking and sharing with others.
Surviving are her son, David S. Hayes Jr., and his wife, Melanie, of Leland; two grandchildren, Connie Ross-Lail, and her husband, Michael, and Hunter Hayes; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Michael Lail; and four nieces.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
