Chuck Edward Gabbard, 56, practical joker with a formidable personality

Chuck Edward Gabbard

BOILING SPRING LAKES — Chuck Edward Gabbard, 56, passed away of natural causes Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at his home.

Chuck was born Feb. 22, 1961, in Corbin, Ky., son of Berle Gabbard and Patsy Whitt Fant. He loved his country and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a practical joker with a formidable personality. You either loved him, or you hated him; and for those that knew him best, you sometimes did both. Chuck had a heart so big, it just “gave out.”

He would want everyone to remember all the good times he had, and the smiles he brought to you. He believed in paying it forward through random acts of kindness. He always put family first, and his grandchildren were the light of his life. Chuck will be greatly missed by everyone.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Patricia Gabbard of Boiling Spring Lakes; daughters, Kimberly Mays Price, and her husband, Christopher, of Huntersville, Tamara Gabbard of Southport and Jessica Mays-Lindsay, and her husband, Nathan, of Boiling Spring Lakes; six grandchildren, Arie Shuler, Caitlyn Lane, Alyssa Price, Owen Henry, Emrie Lindsay and Noah Lindsay; and one great-grandchild, Cameron Tackett.

A celebration of life will be held at 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 22, at the home of his daughter, Jessica Mays-Lindsay, 2571 E. Boiling Spring Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond Hospital Hospitality House, 612 E. Marshall St., Richmond, VA 23284; or share Chuck’s giving nature and pay it forward to a stranger.
