WILMINGTON — Robert John Davis Jr., 83, passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 25, 1933, in Holly Ridge, the son of Robert John Davis Sr. and Goldie Hansley Davis.
Robert was a member of the Winter Park Baptist Church. He worked for many years traveling as an industrial instrument and control contractor. Robert had retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving his country with honor and distinction for over 21 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Janet Branch Davis; sons, Robert L. Davis, and his wife, Linda, Bret Davis and Shannon Dale Davis, and his wife, Janet Shaw Davis; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Winter Park Baptist Church, 4700 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington. The Rev. Mark Teachey will be officiating services.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to services.
