Brandon Patrick Punzalan, 18, recent graduate of the Lyceum Program at New Hanover High School

WILMINGTON — Brandon Patrick Punzalan, 18, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017. Brandon was born Aug. 3, 1999, in Virginia Beach, Va.

As a child and as an adult, Brandon was a selfless, kind and gentle person who loved life and cherished time spent with family and friends.

He was a recent graduate of the Lyceum Program at New Hanover High School, where he received the 2016 National History Day Award. Beginning this fall semester, Brandon was attending Campbell University as a first-year student studying pre-pharmacy. He was the kind of person that anyone would be proud to call son, grandson or friend.

He is survived by his father, Patrick Gerard Punzalan; mother, Christy Grizzard Punzalan; sisters, Ashley Nicole Punzalan and Taylor Marie Punzalan; grandparents, David Alfred Grizzard and Jean Howerton Grizzard; three uncles, Calvin Joseph Punzalan, and his wife, Shawna, Andrew John Punzalan, and his wife, Natalie, and David Scott Grizzard, and his wife, Amy; three aunts Aileen Punzalan Reyes, and her husband, Randy, Nancy Gill Rose, and her husband, Norman, Tracy Grizzard Fox, and her husband, Clarence; and nine cousins, Macy Summer Punzalan, Grayson Tran Punzalan, Chase Patrick Reyes, Alyssa Rose Reyes, Christopher Norman Rose, Jonathan David Fox, Collin Michael Fox, Harrison David Grizzard and Emma Claire Grizzard.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Emeterio and Rosita Punzalan.

Brandon Punzalan will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 8, at Andrews Mortuary, Hampstead. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Wilmington.
