
WILMINGTON — Theophilus Holmes ‘Ted’ Crews, 86, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Wilmington to the late Harlee and Gladys Morgan Crews.
Ted spent his life in Wilmington and was recently featured in a Star News article reflecting on his memories of the area. He was a master builder for over 40 years and the owner and operator of T.H. Crews Construction.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Clark Crews; and brothers, William H. Crews and Joseph M. Crews.
Survivors include his wife, Nell McNeil Crews; son, Michael H. Crews (Susan); daughters, Debra A. Crews and Beverly C. Russ (Johnny); grandchildren, Theophilus Holmes Crews II, Crystal Crews Davidson (Joseph), Hugh Bates Crews and Kimberly Russ Andrews (Ben); and great-grandchildren, Caylei Crews Davidson, Theophilus Holmes Crews III, Lucas Johanson Andrews, Madyleine Mae Davidson and Robert Alston Davidson.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, at Andrews Valley Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Paul Waters and Pastor Glen Kinlaw officiating.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. James McCabe and the late Dr. Gary Hyman for the care and compassion given to Ted and his family over the years.
