
OAK ISLAND — Boyce Payne Broadwell, 65, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017.
Mr. Broadwell was born in Guilford County, N.C., son of the late Lonnie Broadwell and Louise Freeman Broadwell. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Island. He loved his church and family. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and his many friends. Mr. Broadwell was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jackie Pate.
Survivors include his wife, Ginger Broadwell of Oak Island; children, Wendy Talton of Southport, Andy Broadwell, and his wife, Lauren, of Southport and Adam Broadwell, and his wife, Jenna, of Oak Island; stepchildren, Renee Lipman, and her husband, Bill, of Atlanta and Amber Bolduc of Oak Island; brother, Larry Broadwell, and his wife, Brenda of Lugoff; sister, Ann Whitt, and her husband, Billy, of Southport; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, July 31, at First Baptist Church of Oak Island with the Rev. Charlie Carter officiating. Entombment will follow in Cape Fear Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
Active pallbearers will be Richard Mabe, Eric McPherson, Bill Lipman, Johnny Sears, Joe Sears and Danny Tart. Honorary pallbearers will be Everett Cameron, Joe Buie, John Hunt and all of Boyce’s beloved contractor friends.
