BOILING SPRING LAKES — James Edgar “Jimmy” Brown, 91, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017.

Mr. Brown was born April 18, 1926, to the late Samuel and Nettie Lamb Brown and was the oldest of their 11 children. Jimmy was a strong man of faith and active in the service of God throughout many years of his life. Mr. Brown was a proud American and served his country in World War II.

Preceding him in death were his son, James Eugene Brown; a grandson, Vincent Edward Brown; three sisters, Mary “Mickey” Hoxworth, Patricia Ann Stocum and Elizabeth “Libby” Wilkes; and a brother, Otho Brown.

Mr. Brown is survived by the love of his life, Edith Muncy Brown, who he married Aug. 11, 1947; daughter, Patricia Howard, and her husband, Eddie; granddaughter, Tracey Clark, and her husband, Scott; grandson, Kenneth “Bubba” Howard; great-grandson, Robert “Koty” Howard; and great-granddaughter, Kenley “Priss” Howard. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Beverly Brown; granddaughter, Amy Brown, and her husband, Michael Tyler; two great-granddaughters, Jennifer Cumbee and Nikole Brown; and great-grandson, Vincent Brown. Also surviving are four brothers, Lloyd Brown, Gene Ray Brown, and his wife, Sueann, Johnny Brown, and his wife, Eva, and Bobby Sam Brown, and his wife, Max; two sisters, Monetta Johnston, and her husband, Ray, and Gloria Rose Brown; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, June 19, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel with Tracey Clark and Bob McCullough officiating. Burial will follow in the Northwood Cemetery. The family will have visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
