WILMINGTON — Marjorie B. ‘Margie’ Pearson left her earthly life to join her Lord and Savior in her heavenly home Thursday, March 9, 2017.
She was born in Robeson County Jan. 29, 1930, daughter of Luther and Jadie Bass. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, retired WFD Capt. Wallace Pearson; four brothers and two sisters; a son, Wayne Yopp; and a special son in-law, Wayne Bordeaux.
Surviving are her children, Carolyn Y. Bordeaux of Delco, Allen Yopp, and his wife, Wanda, Jimmy Yopp, and his wife, Mary, of Wilmington; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley B. Stewart of Florida; many nieces and nephews, all who she loved very much. Her children, spouses and grandchildren were the great joy of her life.
Ms. Pearson was a member of Lake Forest Baptist Church and attended until her health started declining gradually quite a few years ago. She was a very devoted and loving Christian mother, grandma and mother-in-law. Also, as her health permitted, she enjoyed cooking favorite meals for her family. In her earlier years, she was an avid vegetable gardener.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, at Coble Ward-Smith on Oleander Drive. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Lake Forest Baptist Church 1626 Lake Branch Drive, Wilmington, with the Rev. Burt Vezina officiating. Interment will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Lake Forest Baptist Church.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, as well as their hospice home care nurses, Erin, R.N.; and CNA Robin; and Dr. Gregory Player, and a special neighbor Earl.
