WILMINGTON — Betsy Currin Wallace passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
She was born March 18, 1941, in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Garland and Helen Moffitt Currin. She was also preceded in death by her son, Christopher C. Wallace, and her sister, Janet C. Davis.
Betsy graduated from New Hanover High School, class of 1959. She graduated from Wilmington College in 1961 and attended the University of North Carolina. She earned her registered medical technologist certification from James Walker Hospital, and later retired from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Betsy was a licensed pilot and a captain in the Civil Air Patrol. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Cape Fear Garden Club. She was a member of various square dancing clubs, more recently the 76’ers and the Warsaw See Saws.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Tom Wallace; son, Tommy Wallace, and his wife, Tina, of Leland, N.C; two grandchildren, Jensen and Thomas Wallace; and three nephews, Don Greene, and his wife, Jill, Ben Greene, and his wife, Suzy, and Andy Greene, and his wife, Karen.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 9, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel with the Rev. Rob Lapp officiating. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
