WILMINGTON – Dannie Eugene Cameron passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016. He was 69.
He was born on March 7, 1947, in Wilmington. He was a son of the late Eugene Cameron and Lillian Ruth MacDonald Cameron. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, his wife of 41 years, Joyce Cameron and two daughters, Tina Cameron and Kristy Hinson.
He is survived by his wife of three years, Faye Cameron; his daughter, Jennifer Morrow and her husband, Rob; his grandchildren, Kayleigh Morrow, Will Morrow, Cameron Hinson and Kaitlyn Hinson Flewwellin and her husband, Matt; his brothers, Wayne Cameron, Charles Cameron and his wife, Darah, and Mitchell Cameron and his wife, Shelia; his sister, Connie Wilson; seven step-children; 17 step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
He graduated from New Hanover High School and he worked for more than 25 years as a CNC machinist for G.E., where he met his life-long best friend Mike Nixon.
Mr. Cameron was a member of The Church of God for 39 years, in which he served as a minister and a Deacon. He spent his free time studying the word of God and praying. He loved gospel music, revivals and preaching. He also enjoyed old cars and Corvettes. He was a dedicated Christian and he devoted his life to Christ and the work of his church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service was held Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016 at The Church of God, 246 Middle Sound Loop, Wilmington. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Andrews Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
