Nancy Lucas Loughlin, 72, taught math and science at Williston Middle School

Nancy Lucas Loughlin, 72, of Wilmington, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, April 7, 2016. She was the wife of Dale Loughlin.

Born in Wilmington to the late H.N. and Alice Lucas on June 20, 1943, she was a graduate of New Hanover High School and East Carolina University. She taught math and science at Williston Middle School until her retirement. She was an avid tennis player, animal lover and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.

She was a member of St. Andrew’s on the Sound Episcopal Church and served on the Altar Guild.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Allen and Bobby Lucas.

In addition to her husband, Dale, Nancy is survived by her son, Dr. Michael ‘Mickey’ Loughlin, and his wife, Dr. Marcie Venter; daughter, Ginny Loughlin Morris, and her husband, Josh; special grandsons, Jake and Luke Morris; and her niece, Kim Lucas Howard, and her husband, David.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday April 13, at St. Andrew’s on the Sound Episcopal Church, 101 Airlie Road, with the Rev. Richard Elliott officiating.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Nancy’s memory may be sent to the New Hanover Humane Society, 2405 N. 23rd St., Wilmington, NC, 28401; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
