Ellen Pauline Buckley, nee Sullivan, of Wilmington, passed on to Heaven peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 comforted by her husband of 59 years and her daughter.

Her presence on this earth was a gift to all she encountered during her 77 years and will be forever treasured.

Pauline was born and raised in Boston (Brighton), Massachusetts and graduated from St. Columbkille High School in Brighton. After marrying in 1957, Pauline and her husband raised their five children in New Jersey before moving to Wilmington in 1988.

She traveled the world with the love of her life, her husband, Ed. She especially cherished visits to Ireland and always looked forward to hosting Cape Travelers at her home.

Pauline’s love for Ireland was exceeded only by her love for family and friends. She was a very devoted mother and huge supporter of her family even in their darkest moments. She was a gracious woman and host, always putting others, and particularly her family, before herself. She was proud of both her Irish heritage and her Catholic faith. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed.

Pauline was predeceased by her parents, Jeremiah and Margaret Sullivan of Plymouth Massachusetts; her brothers, Gerald Sullivan of Middlesex, New Jersey and Father Francis Sullivan of Boston, Massachusetts; her sisters, Betty Paynter of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Peggy McCann of Tewksberry, Massachusetts; and her daughter, Pauline Buckley of Bloomingdale, New Jersey.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Buckley Sr.; children, Ed Buckley Jr.(Ikumi) of Newnan, Georgia, Mark Buckley (Lisa) of Yardley, Pennsylvania, Carolyn Hagerty (Don) of Somers Point, New Jersey, Kristine Buckley of Wilmington; and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 8 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Road. The family will receive visitors one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pauline’s Honor to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.

Also, please listen to 2 songs in her honor: Charles Aznavour’s “SHE” and “My Prayer” by The Platters, Pauline and Ed’s wedding song.

Please leave online condolences for the family at Andrews Mortuary.
