Anita Kay Powell, 58, of Wilmington, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, at her home.
She was born on October 26, 1956 in Rupert, Idaho, the daughter of the late John W.G. Noggle and late Julia E. Noggle.
Anita spent most of her early life in Alexandria, Virginia, and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1974. She graduated from James Madison University in 1977 and obtained master’s degrees from George Mason University in 1986 and Notre Dame Graduate School of Christendom College in 2007. She was a director of marketing for several telecommunication companies and relocated from Fairfax, Virginia, in 2008.
She was full of life, loved to walk the beaches and parks with her “boys,” a religious education teacher, a long-time Hospice volunteer, a bible study founder in Fairfax, a Scrabble and fireworks lover and someone who never met a stranger. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and served as a co-chair of the Camillus ministry and as a lector.
Anita is survived by her husband, David J Powell; brothers John W.G.Noggle II and James D. Noggle (Mimi); nephew and niece Ben and Joni Noggle; an uncle, William Daniel; sister-in-law Sr. Mary Ann Powell R.S.M.; and many other relatives and friends.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Road. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 1011 Eastwood Road in Wilmington.
