Col. Albert Willis, 73, found member of No-Port Southport

Ret. Col. Albert Willis, 73, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport of complications from colon cancer surgery.

After serving 27 years in the Air Force, he worked 11 years for Northrup Grumman as director of operations at Scott Air Force Base. Al was born in Denver, Colorado, to Flora and Albert Willis, both deceased.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda, and three children, Kenneth Willis of Southport; Kimberly Kreis, her husband Andrew and their two children, Greyson and Raleigh of Omaha, Nebraska; and Kelly Holliday, husband Dave and their two children, Nate and Lexi, of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey.

Al was a founding member of No-Port Southport and was active in the Southport Lions Club, as well as his homeowners association. Al loved football, politics and good food.

He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southport Lions Club.
