Howard Hirt, of Supply, died Monday, March 9, 2015, at SECU Hospice Care Center, Brunswick House. He was 81.
Born in Cleveland on Oct. 23, 1933, he was a son of the late Robert James and Havel Cregg Hirt. Mr. Hirt was retired from Brinks, Inc. and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Supply Baptist Church, Parkside Masonic Lodge, AF&AM, Cleveland where he was a past master, Orient Masonic Lodge # 395, AF&AM and was also a member of the Cape Fear Order of the Eastern Star Lodge #346, Wilmington.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Betty W. Hirt; a son, Howard G. Hirt Jr. and wife, Rebecca, of Granite Falls; two daughters, Lois Jean O’Neal, of Villiarica, Georgia and Susan Parker, of Knoxville, Tennessee; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Judy Duncan and Gail Holmes, of Summerville, South Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015, at Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel followed by funeral services beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children®-Greenville, Office of Development, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC.
