James ‘J.W.’ Clark, 85, taught Sunday school at First Wesleyan Church

James “J.W.” Clark, of Wilmington, died Feb.6, 2015, at the age of 85.

He was born in Shallotte on July 1, 1929, son of the late Edle and James Clark Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy Mayhan Clark; brother, Roger; and sister, Clara Crews.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Clark; daughter, Nancy Ann Hyatt, of the home; son, Jimmy Clark and wife, Teresa, of Castle Hayne; grandchildren, Nicole Rios (Flo), Joshua Clark, Shauna Treen (Bobby) and Brent Hyatt; and great-grandchildren, Bobby Jr., Brenden and Olivia Treen, Naliah and Keven Rios, Riley Clark and Grayson Hyatt.

J.W. was a member of First Wesleyan Church where he taught Sunday school for many years and was on many boards. He was a devoted Christian. J.W. was employed by the Life of Georgia Insurance Co. for 40 years. He attended Wesleyan Methodist College in Central, South Carolina. He also attended Miller Motte College. He served in the military from 1946 to 1949. He loved to play golf and fish.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 11, 2015, at First Wesleyan Church, 330 Brenda Drive, followed by funeral service at noon with the Rev. Roger Hayley, of Elizabethton, Tennessee and the Rev. Dick Bowie, of First Wesleyan Church, officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hephzibah Children Home, 6601 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31220.
