Donald “Donnie” Thomas Spolarich died on Jan. 11, 2015, at Duke Medical Pavilion. He was 54.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1960, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, son of Vincent and Kathryn Luketic Spolarich. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Kathryn Spolarich, in 2004.
Donnie graduated from Ambridge High School in 1978. He attended a four-year electrical apprentice program through the local union in Pennsylvania. Formally from Freedom, Pennsylvania, Donnie moved to Wilmington in 1986. He was the owner of DC Electric Company. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Castle Hayne. Donnie’s number one interest in life was his family. They always were at the top of his list and came first in everything.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 28 years, Diana Krause Spolarich; his daughter Amber Spolarich, of Greensboro; his son Adam Spolarich, of Wilmington; his sisters, Debra Spolarich Cool (Harry Cool), of Castle Hayne and Doreen Spolarich Murnock (Rick Murnock), of Castle Hayne; his mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Darrell Krause, of Industry, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Brian Krause (Lori), of Chester, West Virginia; nieces, Jennifer Murnock Schriber (Alex Schriber), of Wake Forest and Sarah Murnock High, of New Bern; nephew, Zack Krause, of Chester, West Virginia; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and great-nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 4849 Castle Hayne Road, Castle Hayne, NC 28429.
Donnie was determined and always found strength to fight his illness for the last 14 years. Donnie was a dedicated father and husband. His motto he always followed was to live each day “happy, healthy and terrific.”
