Bruce Everett Evans Sr., of Rocky Point, died peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, at his home. He was 76.
He was born June 5, 1938, in Union Level, Virginia, son of the late Robert and Mimi Evans. Bruce was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carolyn Caddell Evans; infant son; four brothers; and two sisters.
Bruce is survived by his son, Bruce “Sonny” Evans Jr. (Sharon); daughter, Beverly Westbrook (Gene); grandchildren, Michael Ray Evans, Brandon Evans, Randy Westbrook, Wesley Westbrook, Alan Westbrook, Carrie Westbrook and Meghan Potter; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosa Jones and Helen Tucker; and many nieces and nephews.
Bruce served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was retired from All Carolina Crane. Bruce was a devoted husband and caring father, grandfather, brother and friend. Being a hard and diligent worker he always provided for and took good care of his family. For enjoyment, when time permitted, he loved fishing and tinkering on old cars.
The passing of both Carolyn and Bruce just one month apart leaves a huge void in the lives of their family. Bruce, a kind, thoughtful and gentle soul, will be greatly missed.
