Our friend, Larry P. Lorenc, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at the age of 67 at New Hanover Medical Center, Wilmington.

Larry was born Nov. 27, 1947, in St. Joseph, Indiana and was raised in South Bend, Indiana by his mother, the late Josephine J. Lorenc.

Larry was a longtime resident of Wilmington and familiar face in Maritime Industry of the harbor. He moved to Wilmington after completing his enlistment in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman and started work on tug boats for Stone Towing Company. He became the VP/general manager of McAllister Towing of Wilmington in 1997 and remained there until his retirement in 2009.

Survivors also include his close friends and caregivers, Patty Roseman, John Wolfe, Wes Hozey, Chet Gibbons, Peter Kamarainen and wife, Carol, all of Wilmington, along with many other friends and business associates.

Mere words cannot adequately express what this dear man meant to those who knew and loved him. He made friends easily and treated everyone openly, honestly and respectfully. He loved his friends, his dogs, his car and cheesy sci-fi movies.

Larry will be interred at St. Joseph Cemetery in South Bend, Indiana during a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Zimmer Cancer Center.

Rest in peace, dear friend. Your labors are done. Walk with your loved ones who have gone before you and bask in the radiant face of the Lord.

Please leave online condolences for the family at Andrews Mortuary.
