
L. Mae Johnson Hansley, of Hampstead, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at the age of 87.
Mae was born on Dec. 28, 1926, the daughter of the late Lee Geddy Johnson and Lonia Blanton Johnson.
She married the love of her life, Wilburn Hansley, affectionately known as “Honey Bunch,” in 1946 and they were happily married for 64 years. She traveled all over the United States with her beloved Wilburn and enjoyed life with a passion. She was an avid gardener and loved to show off her lilies. Mae was a lover of people and a zealous member of the Hampstead congregation of Jehovah’s Witness and enjoyed sharing her faith with others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Hansley and siblings, Martha Rivenbark, Barbara Wells, Troy Johnson, Fletcher Johnson, Lila Camp and Mabel Johnson.
She is survived by her brother, Marvin Johnson; sister, Kathryn Jarvis; and countless nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly remembered as “Aunt Mae.”
A memorials service will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Kingdom Hall, 212 Futch Creek Road, Wilmington, NC 28411.
