Julia B. Jackson, of Wilmington and formerly of Hallsboro, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at the age of 98.
One of seven children, she was born to Sandy and Julia Brown on Jan. 27, 1916, in Marion, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her siblings and parents.
She married Floyd Jackson, of Hallsboro, and they had two daughters. After retirement, they moved to Wilmington in 1978, and in 1986 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary given by their daughters. Dad passed away four months later. Julia was of Baptist faith and a member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church. Until her health started to decline, she enjoyed her meetings with the Services for the Blind and her yearly trips to the Outer Banks and Lake Norman. She was a beautiful and very strong lady throughout her long life and cared deeply for her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Bullard (Richard), of Zachary, Louisiana and Amy Smith, with whom she made her home; three grandchildren, Don Smith (Pam), of Wilmington, Larry Bullard, and Donna Herbert (Ricky), of Louisiana; three great-grandchildren, Cannon Smith, Bryana Bullard and Derek Morris; and one great-great-grandchild. Also to be remembered is Daniel A. Parker, who spent timeless and numerous hours by her side, loving and caring for her.
Special thanks to our second family, the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and nurses, Kelly Yohe and Kathy Bonvouloir, for the amazing care given to Mom and our family. We will be forever grateful.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Andrews Valley Chapel with the Rev. Elbert Bradshaw officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends for one hour. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lake Waccamaw.
“My heart is full of pain to see you go, my life will be empty. I know you were tired and ready to be with Dad, I will find comfort in knowing you will have a new life and home in Heaven with love, joy, and peace.”
“I love you, Mom, and I am blessed for the time we shared together. Memories will live with me forever.”
Your Daughter
