Christopher Sexton “Uncle Buck” Herring, of Burgaw, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was 56.
He was born Oct. 25, 1958, and was the son of the late Garnie Herring, Jr.
Surviving are his mother, Elizabeth Herring, of Burgaw; brother, the Rev. Mike Herring and wife, Beth, of Salisbury; sister, Betsy Herring Melton and husband, Perry, of Fayetteville; nephews, Jon Herring, Daniel Herring and Benjamin Melton; niece, Samantha Melton; extended family, Susan Benson Herring Wallace; and Alley Cats Restaurant and friends of Burgaw.
Chris was employed by Worsley Oil Company in Burgaw for many years and later moved on to pursue his passion for golf by managing Buccaneer Country Club.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at Alley Cats Restaurant in downtown Burgaw.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or Pender County Rescue.
