Lucy E. Harris Smith, of Castle Hayne, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was 73.
She was a loving mother and a caregiver to many over the years. She loved life and working in the yard.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roscoe Harris; mother, Lydia Nobles Harris; husband, Charlie N. Smith, Sr.; sons, Roscoe D. Smith, Kevin Smith and Keith Scott Smith; grandson, Nicholas Lanier; sisters, Alice Clement and Mary Emmer Smith; and brother, Robert Harris.
She is survived by her son, Charlie Smith, Jr. and wife, Lisa; daughter, Lydia P. Lanier; granddaughters, Shanna Jasper, Elizabeth Mazur and husband, Kris and Jessica Lanier; great-grandchildren, Chase, Hayden, Kensi, Kohen and Mylenia; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, Gethsemane Memorial Park in Morehead City.
