Ruth J. Polston, of Shallotte, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at SECU Lower Cape Fear Hospice Brunswick House. She was 75.
She was a DJ with WVCB radio in Shallotte many years ago and was retired from Brunswick Electric Membership Corp. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was born in Brunswick County on March 17, 1939, daughter of the late Clarence and Zula Jenrette. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tommy S. Russ and Marvin Franklin Polston; daughter, Rebecca Lay Russ; and brother, Donald Jenrette.
Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer Russ, of Raleigh; brother, Dick Jenrette (Peg), of Ponchatoula, La.; two sisters, Jean Little (Norman), of Little River, S,C, and Pat Fox of Crescent City, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Sam and Gabe.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte. Burial will follow at Brunswick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Rex Gore, Milton Coleman, Joe Pace, Terry Little, Bobby Davis and Don Evans.
