Myrtle Fowler Suggs, of Scotts Hill, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at NHRMC. She was 82.
Mrs. Suggs was a charter member of Scotts Hill Baptist Church. She faithfully served her Lord, family, church family and community.
She was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Tabor City, daughter of the late Ramson and Missie Strickland Fowler. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon Fowler and Major Fowler and sister, Esther Lee Boyle.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jimmie Legrande Suggs, Sr.; son, Jimmie Suggs, Jr. (Janice); daughter, Melissa Sylvia (Jodie); grandchildren, Jimmie Suggs, Jennifer Suggs Marshburn (Wes), Garret McCoy, Grant McCoy and Margret McCoy; great-grandchildren, Lola Marshburn, Wallace Marshburn and Clayton Marshburn; sisters, Catherine Dew (R.C.), of Tabor City and Christine Gerald (Elwood), of Columbia, S.C.
A visitation was held Friday, May 16, 2014, at Scotts Hill Baptist Church and a memorial service immediately followed. Interment was held at Sea Lawn Memorial Park, Hampstead.
