Ellsworth Melvin “Bill” Scheydt, of Calabash and formerly of Brooklyn Park, Md., died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the SECU, Hospice Care Center, Bolivia. He was 89.
He was a U.S. Army, WWII veteran having served in the 559th Anti Aircraft Artillery Weapons Battalion.
He was born in Baltimore on June 15, 1924, and was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Scheydt, Sr. and Emma Florence Michaels Scheydt; his wife of 59 years, Vivian Grace Allen Scheydt; and brothers, Edward Scheydt and William Henry Scheydt, Jr.
Survivors include his sister, Thelma Virginia Weeks, of Pasadena, Md.; daughter, Bonita “Scheydt” LeGoullon and husband, John, of Calabash; son, Robert Scheydt, Sr. and wife, Carol, of Glen Gary, W.V.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
