
Alan Shane Holden, a lifelong resident of Holden Beach, died peacefully March 16, 2014.
Mr. Holden enjoyed water sports, especially surfing and fishing. He attended Shallotte Middle School, McCaullie Preparatory School in Tennessee and Patterson School in Lenoir. He was a graduate of Mt. Olive College with a degree in criminal justice. He worked as an active broker in the family businesses Alan Holden Vacations, ReMax at the Beach and Alan Holden Realty. His professional designations included GRI (Graduate of Realtor’s Institute) and e-Pro.
As a child, Mr. Holden was baptized at Concord Methodist Church in Supply and continued to follow his personal relationship with the Lord throughout his life. All who knew him willingly agree that nothing was more important than his children, family and friends.
He was born Oct. 20, 1972, in Wilmington, and was preceded in death by his grandparents, John F. and Johnsie Holden and J. Harry White.
He is survived by his parents J. Alan Holden and Dianne W. Holden Simon; children, Curren, Morrea and Kealani Holden and their mother, Dore Lelepali Holden; maternal grandmother, Mary S. White; aunt, Harriet W. Hemphill and husband, Teak; uncles, Bobby White and wife, Cheryl and Lyn Holden and wife, Judy; cousins, Keane Bellamy, Jason White, Sherry Holden Durham, Leslie Holden Williams, Robin Holden Carson and Josh Holden; and a large extended family.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Holden Beach Chapel, 110 Rothschild St. (beside Town Hall), Holden Beach, followed by a memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. A “Paddle Out Memorial Service” for Mr. Holden will be held at 5 p.m. later that day at the Holden Beach fishing pier.
Memorials may be made to the Holden Beach Chapel Building Fund.
