Frank Othellis Morris, 84, civil engineer and member of The Lakes Golf Club

Frank Othellis Morris, of Boiling Spring Lakes, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at his home. He was 84.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII as a member of the 82nd Airborne. Mr. Morris attended Clemson University on the GI Bill, graduating in 1952 with a degree in civil engineering. He was retired from the U.S. Geological Survey and also retired from the State of North Carolina Department of Public Health – Water Resources Division. Mr. Morris was a member of the Elk’s Lodge and a member of The Lakes Golf Club in Boiling Spring Lakes.

Mr. Morris was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Sumter, S.C. and was preceded in death by his parents, Everette Lee Morris Sr. and Goldie Jerrell Morris; his wife, Hazel Ruth Duckett Morris; and sister, Vera Goody.

He is survived by his sons, William H. Morris and Clarence G. Duckett, both of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter, Elaine Morris-Moxness, of Dale City, Va.; brothers, Everette Lee Morris Jr., of New Jersey and Homer Morris, of Georgia; sister, Frances Morris, of Tennessee; seven grandchildren; 26 great–grandchildren; and one great–great–granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at the Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Drew Bunch officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana.
