Joseph M. Pressley, Sr., 70, veteran of the Vietnam War

Joseph M. Pressley, Sr., of Wilmington, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was 70 years old.

Mr. Pressley was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He also was employed by Corning for many years.

He was born Feb. 1, 1943, in Asheville and was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Verlene Ballard Pressley and his first wife, Amada “Mary” Pressley.

Survivors include his wife, Nguyet “Angie” Nguyen Pressley; children, Christine Tryer (Vince), Joseph M. Pressley, Jr. (Erin), Linda Pressley, Mary Ann Moore (Junior) and Patricia Davis (Chris); grandchildren, Jonathan Moore, Heath and Madison Tryer, Tony Parker, Jr., Dolan Davis and Abigail, Breighan and Griffin Pressley; sister, Dorothy Browning; and brother, Grover Pressley, Jr.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Dr., Wilmington, NC 28409.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Mr. Pressley’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
