Roy (R.P.) Hinson, Jr. lived his life to the fullest with a heart driven by the love he so easily gave to his family.
Mr. Hinson, of Wilmington, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at his home. He was 72.
He often said it was his honor to have his wife, Linda, and with a huge grin on his face loved to tell others, “That woman loves me!” He adored his daughter, Gina, and always provided love and support to anything that mattered to her. Mr. Hinson thought God had given him the best life, and then, in 1990, his grandson, Taylor Martin Fargnoli, was born. At that point Mr. Hinson knew God had upped the ante by giving him a fishing and hunting buddy who became the light of his world. His biggest blessing in life was his family and he let everyone who’d lend an ear know it.
Mr. Hinson was an electrician who worked union construction during his early years, including working for CP&L. He retired when he turned 49 and opened Roy Hinson Electric Company, Inc.
He was born April 5, 1941, in Whiteville and was preceded in death by his parents, Roy P. Hinson, Sr. and Ruby Tyree Hinson; sisters, Geraldine (Jere) Hinson Nelson and Mildred Hinson Phillips; and his loving in-laws, Bill and Lela Watson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Linda Watson Hinson; daughter, Regina Hinson Fargnoli (Angelo); and grandson, Taylor Martin Fargnoli; many cousins, icluding one very special cousin he loved, Wayne Tyree and wife, Connie; and his faithful companion, “Sam” the dog.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at Southside Baptist Church, 3320 S College Rd, Wilmington. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Dr., Wilmington.
