Ernest “Uncle Lip” Price, veteran of the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division, died on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Price was born and raised in Southport and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He loved fishing, creative cooking and, most of all, his family.
He was born on April 24, 1936, and was preceded in death by his daughter, Trina Price; four brothers, Carnell Price, Quilla Price, Walter Price and Carlton Price; and two sisters, Vashti Jordan and Eva Knight.
Surviving is his wife, Pauline Price; daughter, Vineice Price, both of Salisbury, Md.; brother, Harry D. Price, of New Jersey; four sisters, Arabella Davis, of Southport, Estelle Caine, of Michigan, Bessie Hinton, of New York and Beverly Price, of Rockingham; one grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial family gathering will be held at Friendship Baptist Church from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013. Burial will be at the John N. Smith Cemetery.
