CAROLINA BEACH — The fifth annual Art in the Yard is returning to Carolina Beach with over 50 artists showcasing their work.

The event is scheduled for September 19 from 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and September 20 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is free to attend. Artwork will include painting, jewelry, stained and fused glass, wood working, fabric art, photography, resin art and more. Attendees will be able to step into artists’ studios, yards and garages to view their work.

Kickoff will take place at Good Hops Brewing each day, where a raffle will be held each day featuring donated art from participating artists. Raffle tickets will be drawn at 4 p.m., both Saturday and Sunday. Island Arts Council organizer Beth Carter added that the event would also feature a new interactive map, which would allow attendees to start from any point on the island.

“We are excited to introduce an interactive map on a new platform, EventureMap, that enables users to start anywhere they want by searching for artists by medium, by name, or by location,” Carter said.

Clicking on an artist launches Google Maps for precise directions and description of their artwork. The map can be used on mobile devices, but there is also a printable map on the Island Arts Council website, as well as QR codes at local retail shops.

Participants can also scan a QR code at individual artist locations. When at least 20 have been visited, attendees are automatically entered to win an art piece as a prize.
