WILMINGTON — Next month, Lego trains, cities, robots, mosaics and more will be displayed at the Wilmington Convention Center as local artists show off their work to raise money for the Build Smiles Foundation.
The Brick Convention takes place Saturday, Sept. 13, and Sunday, Sept. 14, with tickets available online for $14.99. If tickets aren’t sold out before the event, they can be purchased at the door for $20.
Proceeds benefit the Build Smiles Foundation, which buys Lego sets during the holiday season to give to underprivileged kids across the globe.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Brick Convention said many of the displays are Adult Fans of Lego, also known as AFOLs. Currently, across the globe there are 300 Lego User Groups for Adult Fans with 1 million AFOLs.
Aside from displays built by local Lego enthusiasts, the event will include retired, new and hard-to-find Lego sets available for purchase, a brick pit with thousands of Legos to build, professional lego artist meet-and-greets and a Star Wars zone filled with creations from the Star Wars universe.
