NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has scheduled a precautionary boil water advisory for part of Carolina Beach Road for April 14. Crews will be replacing broken water valves in the area.
The advisory goes into effect at 9 p.m. and will affect around 90 customers, who may experience service interruption or periods of low or no pressure as work proceeds. The following addresses include:
- 2000 and 2100 blocks of Carolina Beach Road
- All of Morningside Drive
- All of Ivey Circle
Customers are asked to boil water for 1 minute, due to potential for back siphonage of bacteria in the water system during construction.
Those who are not using bottled water should, only boil water when drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, preparing food, washing fruits and vegetable, etc. Water will not need to be boiled for showering or bathing.
Before a boil water advisory is lifted, the CFPUA lab staff tests the water and ensure its able to consume.
