PENDER COUNTY — The North Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct a series of lane closures on a Pender County road beginning Monday.
Alternating lanes of Hoover Road from U.S. Highway 17 to Misty Lakes Drive will close for about two months for drainage and roadway improvements. Work includes widening, resurfacing and pavement marking installation as well as drainage and pipe installation along Hoover Road.

While the project is underway, crews will keep one lane open at all times to accommodate through traffic, though drivers should expect stop-and-go conditions. The road is expected to reopen by May 8.
Drivers should use caution when traveling through the work zone and consider alternate routes to avoid travel delays.
