Next month, ‘Creek Week’ events take place in Leland

LELAND — A statewide effort to celebrate clean water takes place next and Brunswick County’s largest town will be participating.

Creek Week is hosted by Clean Water Education Partnership (CWEP) in March. The cooperative effort brings together local governments, state agencies, and nonprofit organizations to educate the public about protecting water quality in the Tar-Pamlico, Neuse, and Cape Fear River Basins.

The Town of Leland will host events March 14 through 21 that will inform and engage the public on the importance of clean and healthy waterways. Events include:

  • Mindful Birding: March 14 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Westgate Nature Park
  • Habitat Fixer Uppers lecture: March 16 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Leland Cultural Arts Center
  • Storm Drain Marking: March 18 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Mallory Creek neighborhood
  • Kids at the Cove: March 18 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Cypress Cove Park
