WILMINGTON — A man found floating in a retention pond earlier this week by police has been identified.

Devin Gwinn, 51 of Wilmington, was found on Wednesday, Oct. 22, just before 11 a.m. in the 2700 block of Patriot Way. The address is near the Pine Valley Library branch, which closed for the day when law enforcement was called in due to a floating object found in the retention pond nearby.

Detectives do not suspect foul play and haven’t released how long they think the body was in the pond. Though the investigation continues and an autopsy will be preformed on Gwinn to determine cause of death.

Anyone with information should contact Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3600 or text information anonymously using the Tip 411 app.
