WILMINGTON — The county is holding a celebration of life for the New Hanover County Planning Board Chair, who passed away last week.
The public is invited to attend Donna Girardot’s memorial on Wednesday, April 26, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at ILM’s Rescue Base-Public Safety Office, 1851 Dolan Dr.
Girardot was tapped as chief strategy officer at CIL Capital last August and beforehand oversaw the NHC Airport Authority — the first female airport authority chair in the state. She was the chair of the county planning board and worked on numerous chairs and committees throughout her lifetime.
Her public service and impact was recognized by Gov. Roy Cooper in 2020 when he granted Girardot the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award.
Community partners will share memories of Girardot’s impact on the community, including speakers from the Wilmington Cape Fear Homebuilders Association, Friends of Donna Girardot, New Hanover County Commissioners and leadership, CIL Capital Leadership, Order of the Long Leaf Pine Recognition, New Hanover County Airport Authority and ILM leadership.
Onsite parking is available at the Public Safety Office facility.
