A Louisiana company has voluntarily recalled hundreds of thousands of pounds of potentially contaminated frozen breaded chicken patties, sold at big-box retailer Costco.
Foster Farms initiated the move after learning about clear, hard plastic found in the patties. The items affected are “Frozen Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat,” branded with plant code of P-33901 and a “Best By” date of Aug. 11, 2023. It also bears the item number 1578129.
There have been no reports of illness or injury associated with the product, though the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Safety Inpsection Service received complaints from consumers.
Buyers are advised to return the product to Costco for a refund. The products were shipped to Costco’s distribution centers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah, and Washington; however, they could be in retail locations nationwide.
“The plant management team has thoroughly investigated and established robust corrective and preventative measures,” according to a press release from Foster Farms.
Consumers with questions about the recall can contact the Foster Farms Consumer Hotline at 1-800-338-8051 or info@fosterfarms.com.
